The US Secretary of State John Kerry warned Russia today stating that NATO territory was inviolable and the alliance would defend every inch of it. But what does this actually mean? Ukraine is not part of NATO. Hence, he has stated in clear lawyer talk that they will not defend Ukraine. Kerry said:
“We have to make it absolutely clear to the Kremlin that NATO territory is inviolable we will defend every single inch of it.”
When you listen to lawyer-politicians you must realize they are wordsmiths. Kerry received his J.D. from Boston College Law School and then worked as an Assistant District Attorney prosecuting people to further his career. Kerry, like other lawyer-politicians, counts on the stupidity of journalists to never read between the lines or between the words. Like Bill Clinton under deposition when he asked “what is the definition of is?” Clinton’s rationalization to the grand jury about why he wasn’t lying when he said to his top aides that with respect to Monica Lewinsky, “there’s nothing going on between us.” How can this be? Here’s what Clinton told the grand jury (according to footnote 1,128 in Special Prosecutor Starr’s report):
“It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is. If the–if he–if ‘is’ means is and never has been, that is not–that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement….Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true.”
Lawyers are wordsmiths. Every word is crafted with precision. When you study law, it is not how to obey the law, but how to so narrowly define your words to get around it. This is why you have to look at Kerry’s words with precision. Kerry’s statement today is a white flag on Ukraine. He is clearly saying in legal terms they will not defend Ukraine but stop there. Sounds like Hitler and Poland to me.
Pro-Russian Separatists in Luhansk, Eastern Ukraine just north of Donetsk, took the government buildings there today. The Pro-Russian Separatists have appointed a self-declared mayor who says he will negotiate the release of military observers they are holding hostage only if the EU drops sanctions against separatist leaders. The East is lost.
This is why I said from the start, give Russia the East for they will take it anyway. NATO will not defend Ukraine for nobody has the money any more. I simply cut through the BS and go to the bottom line. To those who claimed the Ukrainian Revolution was a CIA plot are proved today DEAD WRONG! Why? Because there was never any stomach for a war over Ukraine. A CIA plot would have had an objective. Kerry’s statement today PROVES there was no agenda here. Nobody figured out what to do in advance. These were real people seeking liberty from Yanukovich and his corruption. That was the bottom-line. They trusted the West and have been betrayed. Ukrainians now realize they are table scraps.
Negotiate NOW and give the East to Russia since nobody will stop the Russian invasion anyway. Just accept what has taken place and move on. This posturing shows weakness and is the very same pattern of mistakes made with Hitler. Once Russia believes it is invincible, who is then next? This is how World War III unfolds – pure political nonsense driven by lawyer-politicians who neither understand human nature or economics.
