Granddaughter of Tiberius
Julia was the daughter of Drusus Caesar and Livilla and granddaughter of the Emperor Tiberius. In 20 AD, she was married to Nero, son of Germanicus, but by 30 AD, Nero had been banished to Pontia as part of the ambitious plans of the Prefect of the Praetorian Guard Sejanus. A new betrothal was then arranged with Sejanus after Tiberius refused to allow his marraige to Drusus’s widow Livilla. Following the downfall and execution of Sejanus, Tiberius ordered her to marry Rubellius Blandus in 33 AD. However, at the instigation of the jealous Empress Messalina, wife of the Emperor Caludius, Julia was put to death in 43 AD.
