Daughter of Nero

Born and Died 63 AD

Claudia was the young daughter of Nero and Poppaea, born in 63 AD at Antium. She died four months later. The only record of her existence is this coinage, a single issue in bronze from Syria. Nero and Poppaea did mourn her death and had Claudia declared to be a goddess. Nero did order circus games held in Claudia’s honor while a shrine and a priest were dedicated to her shortly afterward.
